Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) operates the Sepon Mine, an open-pit copper mine, in Savannakhet Province, Southern Laos.  Chifeng Jilong Gold Mining Co., Ltd. (Chifeng) owns 90% of LXML, and the Lao Government owns 10%.

Sepon produces LME Grade A copper cathode using a whole-of-ore leach, solvent extraction and electrowinning (SX-EW) process.  Copper cathode is transported via road to Thailand and via sea to China, where it is sold to manufacturers of copper cable, wire and tube.

In 2020, Sepon produced over 39,730 tonnes of copper and 64,809 ounces of gold doré. Sepon is projected to produce over 250,000 ounces of gold doré in 2021.

Studies are in progress to resume gold production at the end of 2020 for at least seven years.  Gold exploration has resumed with plans to extend Sepon’s mine by at least another ten years.
