As a member of the Procurement and Supply Chain department in a lead role, the candidate is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of information through SAP; this includes procurement, logistics and warehousing with understanding of the process flows from maintenance and into AP. On an on-going basis, the requirement is to analyze and initiate improvements to the business processes within SAP, support the training and development of resources within the team, and develop reporting as the departments liaison with the SAP technical support team. The candidate will be required to fully develop the scope of work with the technical support team to plan the improvements and support the implementation.

Main Accountabilities

  • Core competency in SAP warehousing, procurement and logistics modules, with ability to quantify and prioritize opportunities for improvement, prioritize and schedule improvements, implement in conjunction with the technical development team and provide support training.
  • Optimize the department business processes within SAP to ensure that the application is used in an efficient manner that results in outcomes that support the business and maximize use of SAP application.
  • Thorough understanding of procure-to-pay business processes and best practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of SAP application as it relates to procure-to-pay and maintenance functionality in SAP.
  • Analyze, review and develop new processes for the business in consultation with the department leadership team and system users.
  • Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures for systems activities.
  • Work with various team members and the technical team to establish data maintenance routines to ensure good system health.
  • Ability to support the upload and extract of mass data for Material Masters, Contracts and other activities using tools like LSMW.
  • Work with Warehousing to developing tools to optimize the MRP and inventory forecasting, including ability to develop multiple MRP's to forecast the annual sealift requirements.
  • Work with Warehousing and Logistics teams to assess improvements to receiving and material tracking and expediting, including bar coding.
  • Work with the department to implement automation in order to improve efficiencies and reduce transactional workload.
  • Vet physical configuration of the system solution, design specifications and liaise with technical development team on all matters related to Procurement & Supply Chain
  • Work with the other members of the management team to develop and prioritize enhancements and development to SAP and system tools, making use of both existing system configuration as well as roadmap for future enhancements.
  • Coordinate with the technical development team to build business case and requirements to enable the implementation of enhancements and automation of processes.
  • Work with Procurement and Supply Chain management and other department members to understand reporting requirements and analyze gaps within existing reports. Work with technical development team to develop custom reporting to meet requirements.
  • Work with Procurement and Supply Chain management to put in place management reporting practice to monitor department KPI's and dashboards.
  • Provide training on SAP functionality and reporting on an as needed basis for the Department; develop relevant training materials.
  • Conduct and lead information-gathering sessions with end users, business leads and external departments to facilitate continuous improvement and optimization
  • Visit site from time to time to ensure process compliance and training

Main Qualifications

  • University degree.
  • SAP qualified with particular relevance to maintenance, warehousing, procurement and logistics activities.
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience within the mining or heavy industrial industry is an asset
