JOB POSTING – PROJECT GEOLOGIST

Donlin Gold is recruiting a Project Geologist for one of the world’s largest undeveloped gold deposits, owned and operated by Donlin Gold LLC, which is owned equally by affiliates of Barrick Gold and NOVAGOLD Resources. Donlin Gold is expected to be one of just a handful of gold mines worldwide that produces more than one million ounces of gold annually. Gold mineralization exists in intrusive dikes & sills hosted by sandstones, siltstones, and shales of the Kuskokwim Group. Mineralization generally associated with arsenopyrite, pyrite, and stibnite.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The successful candidates will assist with geological interpretation and provide a variety of support to the drilling program that includes model updates, structural interpretation, core logging, QAQC of geological records, and other related tasks as required.  Responsible for the interpretation of televiewer data and will work toward its incorporation into the geologic model.   The work schedule will be 2 weeks on 2 weeks off rotation located at a fly-in-fly-out remote project site.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Manage continuous updates of the geological model
  • Incorporate televiewer structural interpretations into the geological model; task to include the review and interpretation of televiewer data
  • Assist with drill planning for 2021 season
  • Review drill logs on a regular basis
  • Develop an acquire-linked Leapfrog model of the Donlin Gold deposit.
  • Work with geologic modeling consultant and with resource modelers to understand estimation methods.
  • Assist with core logging and oversee QAQC work preformed by Core Loggers, Geotechnicians, and Core Cutters as needed.
  • Comply with safety & health, environmental and Company policies and procedures.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Geology required.  5 years of mining or exploration geology experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience and proven ability to lead and coordinate a team preferred.
  • Experience working in a remote exploration camp preferred.
  • Experience with Acquire, Vulcan, and Leapfrog software packages strongly preferred.
