THE ROLE
The purpose of this job is to optimize the safe extraction of materials at the Nyrstar Tennessee Mine operation. The Utilities Support person assists in this by installing and maintaining utilities within all areas of the mine.

This is a full time position
The purpose of this job is to optimize the safe extraction of materials at the Nyrstar Tennessee Mine operation. The Utilities Support person assists in this by installing and maintaining utilities within all areas of the mine.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES/TASKS:
- Installs pipe for water or air ventilation
- Installs electrical cables
- Installs fans and vent tubing
- Installs pumps
- Performs clean-up of areas as needed
- Identifies the need for utility installation
- Installs Communication Cables
Safety, Health, Environment and Community
- Promote and demonstrate safe behavior at all times
- Comply with the site's standards and procedures in SHEC and MSHA regulations
- Demonstrate effective performance in achieving agreed SHEC goals in support of the department, site and company standards
- Demonstrates leadership in SHEC through personal behaviors and conversations, and report all SHEC incidents and participate in SHEC initiatives, reviews and investigations
- Take responsibility for the safety of all personnel, including yourself, at Nyrstar Tennessee Mines
- Wears proper PPE at all times
Operations
- Assist in ensuring the mine development and operational activities are achieved to plan specifications
- Support the Mine Shift Team Leader and General Mine Foreman to achieve positive growth and improvement of all work activities and performance standards
- Able to check ground conditions and to safely apply proper scaling methods, including more advanced techniques
- Able to pull and suspend de-energized electrical cable
- Able to mount ventilation fans
- Able to install compressed air and water piping
- Able to install and plumb water pumps
- Able to use basic hand and power tools
People and Organization
- Attend work in an punctual manner, fit for work, and that correct procedures are followed in cases where absences from work may occur
- Maintain a sound relationship with Mine Shift Team Leader, coworkers, and other departments while working together
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- Preferred 3-5 years experience in mining
- Experience in construction and/or using heavy equipment
- Preferred knowledge of mining regulation and statutory responsibilitie
COMPETENCIES:
- Demonstrated competence in coaching, mentoring and providing feedback to team members
- Good time management and prioritization skills
- Performs practical and manual activities
- Has an aptitude for mechanics and is able to handle machinery
- Is physically fit
- Is able to work as part of a team
- Is willing to work in remote areas under difficult conditions
- Has good organizational skills
- Is able to record details accurately
- Has a knowledge of underground mining principles
