Job Description

Working out of SNC-Lavalin's office in Exton, PA you will be a part of a team that works on fast paced technically complex design/build projects in biotech, pharmaceutical, chemical and food industries.

As a Site Safety Manager in SNC-Lavalin's Engineering and Construction department and reporting to the Sr. Director of Project Delivery, you will implement and monitor compliance to the SNC-Lavalin Construction Health & Safety Management Plan.

What will be your contribution?
  • Conduct site-specific safety orientation, ERP and StepBack training for all site personnel and visitors.
  • Conduct Contractor pre-mobilization meetings prior to onset of work activities.
  • Ensure contractors have the competent resources on-site with appropriate certifications.
  • Review subcontractors' project-specific safe work plans (lifts, falls, CSE, excavation, LOTO, etc).
  • Review contractor risks assessments (Job Safety Analyses, SNC Lavalin StepBack)
  • Interface with client/contractor safety representative to ensure that Health and Safety processes are incorporated.
  • Ensure necessary supply, operation and availability of safety, first aid, medical and firefighting equipment.
  • Conduct periodic site safety inspections. Lead Health & Safety site inspection with SNC-Lavalin Managers.
  • Collect and post monthly H&S statistics (hours worked, leading & lagging indicators).
  • Maintain a daily Heath & Safety activity log. 
  • Conduct monthly Health & Safety Audit.
  • Implement, monitor and maintain Safe Work Permits (hot work, LOTO, CSE, etc).
  • Oversee work-site maintenance (housekeeping, sanitary facilities, break area, traffic control, security).
  • Issue disciplinary measures when required, interrupt work if necessary.
  • Participate in the Incident Investigation process when they occur.
  • Participate in weekly construction coordination meetings.
  • Conduct periodic foreman meetings and site-wide H&S meetings.
  • Provide and maintain Health & Safety Communication Boards (Health and Safety issues using posters, notices).
  • Ensure proper reporting of workplace hazards.  Report Imminent Dangers where they exist.
  • Ensure proper risk assessments have been conducted and hazards control measures are implemented.
  • Maintain corrective action list.  Ensure prompt and appropriate follow-up on actions.
  • Inform Construction Manager on contractor non-compliance to Health & Safety obligations.
  • Conduct Behavior Interventions to improve safety culture.
  • Execute the Emergency Response Plan.  Conduct periodic drills.
  • Ensure subcontractors Health & Safety paperwork is submitted on-time and record keeping is accurate.
  • Implement the Positive Incentives Program.


What we are looking for?
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in similar role.
  • OSHA 1926 Construction 30-hour card or greater.
  • Risk assessment training and experience in the construction field.
  • Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint® experience
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
