Position Description:
Environmental professional to support environmental monitoring activities at the Grants Reclamation Project (GRP) closure site. With oversight, t he successful candidate will be responsible for the groundwater monitoring program at the site in addition to supporting all environmental programs and regulatory compliance obligations to ensure that all legal and other environmental obligations related to reclamation and closure are achieved.

Environmental professional to support environmental monitoring activities at the Grants Reclamation Project (GRP) closure site. With oversight, t he successful candidate will be responsible for the groundwater monitoring program at the site in addition to supporting all environmental programs and regulatory compliance obligations to ensure that all legal and other environmental obligations related to reclamation and closure are achieved.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and perform groundwater monitoring activities associated with reclamation activities, including sample collection, shipping, and data management.
- Document relevant field observations/notes and maintain monitoring equipment, and laboratory space.
- Perform other monitoring necessary for regulatory compliance, including pond data collection, input, and management.
- Ensure conformance with site-specific NRC license SUA-1471, NMED DP-200 permit requirements, and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Manage contractor work, as applicable.
- Assist other personnel in achieving site objectives.
- Responsible for after hours on-call response to environmental incidents, as needed.
- Position requires occasional weekend work to support groundwater treatment system operations.
- Position requires the ability to regularly walk over uneven, sloped, rocky, wet or icy ground and the ability to lift 50 or more pounds consistently and safely.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrology, Ecology, or related field required
- Entry level professional position
- Strong computer skills including experience with PowerPoint, Word & Excel required
- Possession of a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record required
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills required
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously required
