About the role
We are offering a 4-month Mine Planning internship opportunity, with a possibility to extend to 8 months. This opportunity will be based in Labrador City at ourIron Ore Company of Canada group facility.

This internship will allow you to have direct exposure to mine engineering work on an active mine site. You will support different activities relating to IOC's mine planning process.

In this role, you will be responsible for:
  • Assisting mine planners with planning horizons, blast event, and infrastructure planning
  • Performing mine reconciliation (spatial, equipment, haulage network)
  • Contributing to continuous improvements initiatives related to unlocking haulage capacity
  • Providing mine design support
  • Assisting in the implementation of our downhill haulage procedure through updates to our traffic management plan, mine design standards, and risk assessment
  • Participating in HSE related programs, including safety talks and field observations

What you'll bring
  • At least one year completed in Mining Engineering or related field
  • Safety mindset
  • Leadership skills, eagerness to learn and ready for the challenge ahead
  • Flexibility and Autonomy
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
  • Valid driving license

The Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC) is a leading Canadian producer of iron ore concentrate and iron ore pellets that serves customers worldwide. The company operates a mine, a concentrator and a pelletizing plant in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as port facilities in Sept-àŽles, Quebec. It also operates a 418-kilometre railroad that links the mine to the port.
