Position Description:

Maintenance Engineers are key to minimize equipment downtime, and to increase availability and equipment performance with a focus on quality repairs in a safe timely manner. They provide leadership and hands-on, practical support to a team of multiskilled technicians, who operate across a variety of shift patterns, completing both proactive and reactive Maintenance activities. The Maintenance Engineer's responsibilities and accountabilities, as a liaison with maintenance, production, and technical services, is to identify, develop, design, and recommend strategies to enhance equipment/component performance and repair issues. The role ensures that maintenance techniques, procedures, and equipment reliability are followed and continuously improved.

  • Measure and review equipment performance by mean time to repair, availability and overall equipment utilization.
  • Verify planned and break in maintenance work is completed following procedures to ensure quality precision maintenance standards are achieved.
  • Ownership of the PM Programs to ensure that maintenance scheduled tasks are optimized and set up in CMMS.
  • Ensure quantity assurance and control are integrated into craft procedures. Followed up by field verification that procedures are being followed.
  • Identify and implement innovative technical solutions to overcome maintenance problems.
  • Identify and develop and generate critical spares list for the plant area.
  • Provide ongoing audit of parts lists starting with most critical equipment first
  • Develop and update job kits for field use.
  • Support the development of Maintenance Technicians in relation to their progression.
  • Ensure that equipment upgrades, and purchases comply with all applicable Federal, State, and Safety Policies.
  • Verify equipment assets are configured in the system properly and per standards
  • Participate in Post-Mortem meetings after major maintenance projects or failures
  • Give daily feedback to planners and supervisors
  • Assist in the preparation of yearly maintenance budgets.
  • Document and generate reports and drawings, for equipment upgrades and distribute as appropriate
  • Manage Management of Change process pertaining to maintenance activities.
  • Verify that continuous improvement is occurring.
  • Monitor and trend improvement projects.
  • Verify planned reliability improvement work through field observations.

  • Demonstrated commitment to Safety.
  • Bachelor of Science Engineering Degree and 4 years of experience in the field. Or more than 10 years of field maintenance experience. Preferably in the mining industry.
  • Field engineering experience
  • Demonstrated logical problem-solving skills.
  • Conceptual and analytical skills
  • Advanced computer skills in spreadsheets, word processing, and database software.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and be self-motivated.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent organizational, and prioritization skills
  • Knowledgeable in the use and integration of predictive and preventive processes
  • Knowledgeable in the maintenance planning and scheduling best practices
  • Supervisory experience preferred

About Nevada Gold Mines

Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining their significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world and realize the full potential of these mines through synergies and best-in-class operational improvements.
