Located in the Great Sandy Desert in East Pilbara, Western Australia, Telfer is a fly in out fly out operation from Perth which recognizes the importance of work-life balance. Families are welcomed several times a year to open days to support our community feel at Telfer.

Who we are looking for

We have an impressive opportunity for a Senior Maintenance Engineer to join our Telfer Engineering and Reliability team and support the maintenance execution teams onsite. Directly reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Supervisor, you will actively support safety improvement initiatives and demonstrate safety leadership across site.

As a Senior Engineer, you will provide scope of works for major maintenance works and complicated tasks where required, undertake task inspections and provide technical support to the shutdown process. As a leading team member, you will coach and mentor junior Engineers and provide technical and statutory guidance and support.

Other key deliverables of this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Ensure statutory compliance of all assets and activities under your control with legislation, site and Australian standards
  • Initiate and project manage small projects; optimise cost through Project Edge and diligent project management
  • Assist in the process to identify and monitor key integrity risks across site and track the implementation of key risk mitigation strategies
  • Technical fault finding and failure analysis

To be successful in this role, you will have an in-depth understanding of the statutory regulations relevant to safety and environment for the Western Australian mining industry. Your ability to provide specific technical advice to maintenance personnel and detailed scopes of work for planning will be highly valued. In addition to your finely tuned problem-solving and decision-making abilities, you will also have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualifications with practical experience
  • Proven maintenance engineering experience in Metalliferous Processing Plants, preferably in Gold
  • Experience using SAP and advanced Microsoft Office essential
  • Proficient in CAD software - preferably the AutoCAD suite
  • Mechanical Trade Certificate, Confined Space Entry & Working at Heights Qualifications are desirable
