Our client, a global mining company, is currently searching for a Drilling Superintendent for one of their new Russian open pit mines to support the exploration and drilling programs. It's a great opportunity to build your experience and exposure within this growing organisation which offers long term job security as it’s expected this mine will have a 25+ year mine life. The role is offered on a fly in fly out basis, 8 weeks on, 3 weeks break from anywhere in the world. Please note, permafrost experience is essential for this position.

Role Responsibilities Include:

- Collaborating with Exploration, Development and Contracts teams to uphold the drill tender process for planned programs.

- Implementing an effective daily reporting system to capture individual drill rig data at every project across all sites.

- Conducting regular technical discussions with regional drill managers and project managers to effectively identify and quickly resolve problems

- Standardising the drilling practice, equipment and record keeping.

- Identifying and maintaining operational cost reductions and/or productivity improvements to safely and effectively achieve drilling targets.

- Liaising with internal Contracts, Environmental and Safety groups to coordinate contracts and tenders.

- Promoting and participating in the application of new technologies (tools, equipment and fluids).

 

To be considered for this role you must have

- 15+ years mining industry experience (in very harsh, cold climates)

- Practical experience in operating and managing diamond drilling operations, 

- Experience of setting-up, managing and maintaining remote drilling camps in Arctic and/or Sub-Arctic conditions

- Client side experience not just contracting background

- 5+ years of tendering and managing drilling contracts

- Drilling experience should be specific to hard rock minerals exploration or production development.

- Strong leadership and management skills in an expatriate environment

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting, training and technical purposes in English;

- Russian language skills would be advantageous but not essential.

 

This role is Fly In Fly Out from anywhere in the world and is offered on a roster of 8 weeks on site and 3 weeks break. You can opt to fly somewhere other than your point of hire if you choose. This role is offering a generous base salary, location allowances, medical insurance for the candidate and family.
