Global role responsible for supporting the development and continuous improvement of Asset Management practices, processes, tools and systems to drive Asset Management performance and maximize returns on assets.

About this role

Within Technical Services, the Asset Management Group provides strategic leadership and support for Newmont's asset management work. It aims to ensure that Newmont's asset management processes and capabilities are a source of sustainable and considerable competitive advantage.

This is achieved by focusing on business process standardization, proactive collaboration, competency and capability development, maintenance and reliability practices, relevant global metrics and targeted value-adding asset lifecycle improvements.

Within the Asset Management (AM) organization, the Specialist, Asset Management will:
  • Support the continuous improvement of AM standards and guidelines, performance management, maintenance and reliability practices and safety.
  • Involved in the developing, planning and delivery of strategic AM programs and support implementation, monitoring and reporting of the programs.
  • Work with site planning and AM teams, to strengthen their capabilities in root cause and reliability analysis and in the use and interpretation of relevant standards, guidelines and tools.
  • Analyze, track and monitor data and information from various sources and systems to identify and recommend action(s) for improvement opportunities at global, regional or site levels.
  • Provide support to AM section on the implementation and monitoring of assigned projects/program.


Your role will consist of

Support the planning and delivery of strategic AM programs.

Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of selected AM standards, guidelines, technical specification and tools.

Work closely with site reliability engineers to strengthen their capabilities in root cause, failure and reliability analysis, and in the proper use of relevant tools and techniques.

Monitor, analyze and trend data and information from various sources, including enterprise systems, to identify and recommend improvement opportunities at global, regional or site levels.

Promote collaboration across the global AM community, identifying and facilitating sharing of leading AM practices.

Participate in Community of Practice for global asset management personnel.

Your Training, skills, and experience checklist




Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience in mining, or similar heavy industry) and including site-based or in-field experience.

Experience in reliability engineering including but not limited to data analysis, trending and reporting, defect elimination programs, and root cause and failure analysis methodologies.

Experience in successfully implementing and improving asset management practices, processes and tools.

Experience working directly with heavy mobile and fixed equipment

Intermediate knowledge of SAP plant maintenance module including the creation and querying of notifications, work order status and extracting history.

Basic knowledge of preventative and predictive techniques, including but not limited to contemporary asset health & condition monitoring techniques

Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies is preferable

Skills and Abilities:

Strong inter-personal, verbal and written communication skills.

Strong data processing and analytical skills.

Intermediate communication and presentation skills (including influencing and coaching of site personnel and working with external supplier/services)

Intermediate report writing and project management skills (monthly reporting, self-managed improvement projects, etc.)

Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products including Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Project and Visio.



Working Conditions

The position is located in the Denver, Colorado corporate office.

The position requires national and international travel to assist Newmont's global operations.

Flexible hours to accommodate global meeting times

Willingness to put in extra hours as projects, time zones and priorities dictate
