The Hemlo property consists of Williams Operating Corporation, an underground and open pit mine, located approximately 350 kilometers east of Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Position Description:
  • Supervise and manage all activities related to the procurement of all services for the mine site
  • Implement all approved procurement policies and procedures as it pertains to contracts.
  • Manage contract negotiations and all Requests for Proposals
  • Continually review contract management policies and procedures to ensure they are meeting the demands of the business and satisfying the needs of our First Nation Partners
  • Work in partnership with the Supply Chain Superintendent to ensure the requirements of the site are being met with regards to services
  • Work collaboratively with all departments and maintain positive relationships with external contractors.
  • Assist with the establishment and monitoring of KPI's to drive contractor performance improvement;
  • Conduct research and spend analysis which support contracting strategies;
  • Implement and maintain contract administration tracking system.
  • Implement a Contract Management Scorecard (Services)
  • Coordinate with Contractors for the efficient execution of contracted work.
  • Understand all commitments under William's Operating First Nation Agreements and ensure that all business commitments are met.
Responsibilities:

Budget and Resource Management
  • Working with the Chief Financial Officer and the Superintendent of Supply Chain, to submit annual budgets for review and work within the limits of the approved budget.
  • Work with the various departments and develop strategies and recommendations to manage the contractors on site.
Leadership
  • Communicate and demonstrate Barrick's mission and values.
  • Motivate and mentor employees.
  • Establish a climate of trust, participation and fair application of corrective action.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure effective decision making and alignment across the operation.
Health, Safety and Environment
  • Champion activities that contribute to the overall achievement of 'World Class' safety performance where safety is owned and embraced by everyone.
  • Promote a positive health, safety and environment culture and the Internal Responsibility System.
  • Ensure employees within your area are equipped with the proper training, tools and direction to safely complete their work and all legislative requirements are met.
  • Understand, promote and live by the Fatality Prevention Commitments.

Qualifications:
  • Relevant post-secondary education
  • A professional designation in Supply Chain would be considered an asset as well as a background in Commerce (Finance/Accounting)
  • Eight to Ten (8-10) years of experience working in Supply Chain with two years of experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations as they relate to this role.
  • Solid decision making and judgment skills with a keen sense of ethics
  • Sense of urgency with the ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities
  • Able to communicate effectively and influence others both one on one and through presentations
