Summary

The person selected for this position will undertake diverse and challenging work focused on providing air dispersion modeling and environmental compliance support to fast-paced primarily industrial clients. The position requires strong problem-solving skills and drive to combine technical background with regulatory framework to develop solutions to meet client objectives for air regulatory program requirements. Work may include providing assistance in running air dispersion models; troubleshooting complex problems; managing large sets of air emissions, air monitoring, and meteorological data; conducting emission calculations and developing emission inventories; providing geographic information systems (GIS) support; and preparing air permit applications.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in meteorology, atmospheric science, environmental engineering, or related scientific degree
  • Understanding of atmospheric dynamics and air dispersion concepts
  • Strong computer skills, including managing large data sets and spreadsheet development
  • Knowledge of and experience with performing statistical analysis
  • Intrinsic motivation with an emphasis on client service and interest in growing a career in environmental consulting
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, project team members, and regulators
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills including attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Willingness to travel and periodically adjust personal schedule to meet project needs
  • Acceptable driving record
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with air dispersion models such as AERMOD, CALPUFF, SCREEN, and/or regional transport models
  • Knowledge of GIS, especially ARCMAP, and basic understanding of navigation in that program
  • Ability to identify modeling problem causes and to evaluate alternative solutions
  • Experience with photochemical regional models


NOTE: Applicants must be able to work in locations that feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and to enter and work within facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, high temperature and pressure process equipment, and other conditions typical of large industrial facilities. Job assignments may involve work on waste-disposal sites and sites requiring cleanup of hazardous materials. An OSHA-mandated physical exam may be required; safety training will be provided.
