Senior Specialist - Electrical Maintenance

Globe 24-7 in partnership with Newcrest Mining, is working together to source experienced and qualified talent to join their Asset Reliability Team at their Lihir Gold Operations (LGO).

The Role

Reporting to the Superintendent E&I, the Senior Specialist - Electrical Maintenance will be required to safely coordinate the electrical maintenance activities to support the processing plant areas to resolve equipment performance and maintenance issues. The role also provides technical electrical specialist advice and ensures all electrical installations comply with all relevant statutory and safety requirements in the following areas:
  • Crushing and conveying
  • Grinding
  • Flotation
  • NCA circuit (Neutralization, Cyanide addition)
  • Autoclaves
  • CCD Circuit (Counter Current Decantation)
  • Associated power distribution and control


The Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering and instrumentation is essential
  • Australian, New Zealand or PNG Power Electrical Licence including HV Switching is essential
  • An exemplary safety record and outstanding safety leadership
  • 7+ years relevant work experience essential including 3+ years as a supervisor
  • Extensive experience within a large scale complex processing plant
  • Advanced skills in applying Australian electrical standards, particularly the AS3000 wiring rules
  • Advanced analytical skills for fault finding/diagnosis and repair of faulty electrical equipment, instrumentation, control wiring systems and process control interface
  • Advanced understanding of the principals associated with the installation, repair, and calibration of industrial instrumentation including flow, pressure, temperature, density, position and chemical analysis instruments
  • Advanced understanding of the principals associated with the repair, and maintenance of industrial electrical equipment including HV and LV motors, motor control centres, variable speed drives, power distribution and lighting systems
  • Proficient in the reading/interpretation & accurate updating of electrical drawings
  • Previous experience working in a remote location in a developing country advantageous, but not essential
  • Proficient in English with excellent verbal, written communication and public speaking skills.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office suite and SAP or similar
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training.
  • Certificate in Workplace Assessment and Training or similar desirable
  • A current PNG, Australian or New Zealand Drivers Licence
