Purpose

The Process Electrical Superintendent is responsible for leading, mentoring and developing a team of Electrical Supervisors, Specialists, Engineers, E&l Technicians, Industrial Refrigeration Mechanics and Automation Engineers. The primary objective of this position is to deliver a safe and environmentally compliant, high-quality maintenance strategy, which maximizes equipment availability and operational performance, as well as a workplace culture committed to continuous improvement. Key accountabilities include; ensuring compliance with all relevant electrical regulatory codes, Newmont policies, procedures and standards, implementation of maintenance systems and quality assurance processes, efficient deployment of resources with focus on improving work methodologies, job quality, schedule compliance, reliability and performance

Essential Duties

Ensure that high voltage and low voltage electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities support the continuous operation of process plant facilities, including; primary crusher, SAG and Ball Mill grinding circuit, gravity gold recovery, pre-leach thickener and leach-CIL circuit, carbon stripping, elution and regeneration, gold recovery and smelting, CCD thickening and cyanide destruction, tailings and reclaim water facilities and effluent treatment plant. Ensure the continuous availability of control and automation systems to maintain process variables within required parameters, optimize output and protect critical equipment. Task personnel and schedule resources to support process operations, troubleshoot abnormalities and maximize equipment uptime in the most efficient and cost effective manner possible. As subject matter expert, provide direction, design criteria advice and strategies to electrical instrumentation and process control workgroups, contractors and other stakeholders, to ensure work output aligns with operational expectations, strategic plans, applicable standards and budget constraints. Ensure all work is executed according to Newmont Suriname work management processes, Newmont Integrated Management Systems and Standard Operating Procedures.Collaborate with peers including; process operations and process maintenance superintendents and other stakeholders as required to develop and execute routine work-plans and scheduled outages.

Training & Experience

Advanced Diploma (Level 5*) or higher, in Electrical Engineering or Electro technology combined with an "A" grade ElectricalWorker's Licence, or equivalent. At least 10 years' experience as an Electrical Superintendent in a large scale mining/mineral process environment.At least 6 years' experience as an Electrical Supervisor leading and developing electrical trade teams in a large scale mining/mineral process environment. Strong technical knowledge including a minimum of 5 years High Voltage Switching and Power Distribution in a mineral process environment. Well-developed knowledge of Industrial Process Automation (PLC/DCS & SCADA) and Advanced Control Systems. Strong knowledge of budget management and cost control in a mining/processing environment. Strong project management and planning skills. International, cross-cultural experience as an Expatriate in an international mining location.

The Process Electrical Superintendent works in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment. The challenges of leading and developing a relatively inexperienced workforce requires a high degree of technical competence, cultural awareness and commitment to embedding a zero-harm work culture. A high degree of adaptability is required to be able to succeed when conditions have changed or improvisation is required due to limited resources. Attracting and retaining high caliber electrical workers is a critical challenge due to the relatively small pool of "in-country" resources. The Process Electrical Superintendent must also implement and ensure adherence to international electrical standards and electrical safe-work practices in a situation where a statutory framework or regulatory authorities do not yet exist.
