Summary

The person selected for this position will work on multidisciplinary project teams providing electrical engineering and related technical expertise. Work will include integrating process, mechanical, and control requirements into comprehensive electrical systems. Typical tasks will include completing calculations and analyses; developing design details; preparing drawings, specifications, sketches, and cost estimates; selecting equipment; writing proposals and reports; and communicating with clients. Project work will be related to power and controls for power plants, refineries, mining facilities, municipal water and wastewater facilities, and other heavy industrial facilities. The work may at times involve short-term, out-of-town assignments.

NOTE: Applicants must be able to work in locations that feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and to enter and work within facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Safety training will be provided. Applicants may be asked to participate in a drug screening program at the request of specific clients.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering with academic coursework focused on power or control systems
  • 0 to 3 years of relevant experience
  • Computer skills and familiarity with AutoCAD, Excel, and Word
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with team members in a high-energy working environment that encourages self-initiative
  • A flexible working style and a willingness to modify personal schedules as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship
  • Acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a design capacity on projects directly related to job responsibilities described above at a consulting engineering or industrial organization
  • Knowledge and experience with industrial manufacturing processes such as power plants, petroleum refining, mining and/or minerals processing, chemical production or municipal facilities
  • Power distribution experience
  • Experience interfacing databases of common Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) with other end-user applications such as Distributed Control Systems (DCSs)
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs and short-circuit studies and analyses
  • Experience with motor control, lighting, grounding, conduit plans, sizing of power cable and electrical equipment
  • Familiarization with fundamentals of short circuit and protective device coordination calculations
  • Proven project or task management skills
  • Working knowledge of codes, standards, laws, and regulations applicable to the project assignments described above
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certified, or ability to obtain within one year
  • GPA 3.0 or greater
