Position summary
Downer Rollingstock Services has an exciting opportunity to join our business and contribute to an exciting new Project. Downer Rollingstock Services (RSS) is committed to providing the highest quality of Rolling Stock & Overhaul services, for both the local QLD and greater Australian markets.

We are currently seeking a Mechanical CAD Designer to permanently join our Rollingstock team based in Brisbane QLD. The Mechanical CAD Designer will work within a team environment to produce quality mechanical design and drawing work, on time and within project timescales along with application of engineering, design and maintenance knowledge and principles for the modification and overhaul of passenger rolling stock. You will be responsible for the preparation and production of high-quality technical 3D model and drawings derived from existing NX models, AutoCAD and other modelling software systems that will be critical to the successful delivery of rolling stock projects across the facility.

You will have:

• Proven experience in a Mechanical CAD Design based role
• Strong knowledge of Unigraphics NX or Dassault Catia, Solid works and/or AutoCAD Inventor
• High analytical and problem-solving ability with a history of pragmatic solution-based designs.
• Strong understanding of safety and its role in the design and the workplace.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to explain complex design components to all levels of the business.
• Highly developed knowledge of problem-solving procedures and methods in relation to engineering design and change management processes
• Design experience in Rolling Stock or related industry highly regarded.
