Our Perth office is experiencing further growth due to recently secured, high profile Projects. We are currently seeking applications from Field Structural Engineers who can be part of a Perth based FIFO engineering team providing engineering services to a key project.

The Project will include the execution of a process plant, non-process infrastructure, a slurry and return water pipelines, a raw water pipeline and port infrastructure to support 22 wmtpa production. Hatch is currently seeking site based structural engineers to support the clients principal structural steel and concrete installation Contractors through the construction phase of the project. The role will be a fly-in fly-out position from Perth and for the duration of construction. The majority of the structural steel is to be modularised and pre-fabricated off site.

Core Functional Tasks & Key Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Interfacing with the Concrete and Structural Steel installation Contractor.
  • Liaising with the engineering design team.
  • Responding to and closing out of technical queries and requests for information.
  • Conducting site inspections and writing field engineering reports and NCRs.
  • Provide Structural engineering analysis and design for reinforced concrete and structural steel to Australian Standards
  • Prepare, reviewing and checking engineering calculations, technical specifications and scopes of work
  • Prepare Material Take Offs/Bill of Quantities
  • Review and check engineering drawings
  • Client/Stakeholder management
  • Managing commercial aspects of projects


Key required skills, experience and attributes:

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years structural engineering experience including prior construction experience.
  • Experience in the coordination, design and delivery of projects within multi-disciplinary projects.
  • A degree in Civil engineering from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Demonstrated design experience including reinforced concrete and structural steel preferably mining industry and material handling facilities.
  • Experience with Structural design software such as SpaceGass, and Strand7.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry and/or regulatory standards relating to Structural Engineering including Australian codes and standards.
  • Prior experience within the Iron Ore Projects.
  • Prior experience with modularised Projects.
  • Applicants with PEng will be well regarded.
