Lehigh Hanson is seeking a qualified Plant Manager.  This position will reside at the aggregate plant located in Sanger, CA.
 
The Plant Manager will direct and manage the aggregate operations for the Sanger facility with overall responsibilities for safety, environmental, maintenance, quality, and other production-related activities. The position ensures compliance with all standards, policies, and regulations for a safe, environmentally sound production of a quality product.  This position reports directly to the Area Operations Manager.

What you'll get to do:
  • Plan and direct the daily operations of a sand & gravel plant, including financial responsibility, supervision, and development of staff, production efficiency and cost-effectiveness of operations.
  • In partnership with local Safety and Environmental staff, continue to develop, promote, and maintain high levels of performance throughout the operation to ensure compliance.
  • Direct production efforts in the most cost efficient manner and maximize the utilization of equipment.
  • Proactively troubleshoot and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and maximum availability.
  • Execute quarry development and mine planning; ensure accuracy of all mine production reporting.
  • Identify opportunities, develop strategies, and execute the plan for operational improvement.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, monitor plant costs, analyze KPI metrics, and oversee P&L activity.
  • Lead development and execution of Capital Expenditure plans.
  • Working closely with the area sales and quality control groups, ensure adherence to internal and external quality control requirements for all aggregate products, while balancing customer demand and production capabilities to manage inventory levels.
  • Work with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure operational compliance.
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, ESH, Finance, QC, HR, Legal, CCM, and other related departments.
  • Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Lehigh Hanson corporate guidelines, conducting training, and monitoring compliance.
  • Carefully evaluate training, coaching, and development opportunities for direct and indirect reports, in conjunction with area human resources staff, to drive growth and development of your team.
Who we are looking for:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Construction focused college degree is preferred.
  • Experience in production and supervisory roles with aggregate operations. Crushed and wet processing experience is an asset.
  • Must have a working knowledge of aggregate production and associated equipment, and an extensive understanding of operations and safety requirements for the equipment.
  • Experience working with mine planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize production processes.
  • Experience and knowledge of modern maintenance technology and methods.
  • Experience and working knowledge of P&L functions, coding, and APR data.
  • Experience and knowledge in leading capital expenditures. Ability to complete proposals, budgets, timelines, and project scopes, etc. Previous construction project management is an asset.
  • Proficient use of standard MS office tools and skillsets to learn internal reporting systems
  • Strong, proven leadership and interpersonal skills; excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and decision making skills.
  • Must have working knowledge of state and federal employment, safety and environmental laws.
  • Experience of capital and operating budget management; sound knowledge of plant financial reporting. 
  • Sound knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regulations, employment laws and environmental regulations as they apply within mining and processing operations, previous California experience is an asset.
