About the role

We are looking for a Land Management Advisor to join the site Land & Rehabilitation Team in the development, co-ordination and execution of key natural resource management programs in Western Cape York. With leases covering areas of over 380,000ha, and an extensive operational footprint, this natural resource management-focussed role will improve and implement the land-management programs, coordinate baseline flora/fauna programs and manage the environmental buffers for site. A key part of the role will be ongoing engagement with internal/external stakeholders including land owners, NGOs, institutions and traditional owners.

This role is a great opportunity an experienced Environmental professional to contribute the broader site's natural resource management program. Reporting to the Superintendent Land and Rehabilitation, you will be required to:
  • Develop and maintain natural resource management programs, including weed and fire management
  • Provide advice on technical and strategic environmental issues especially with relevance to baseline flora and fauna monitoring
  • Support and liaise with key internal stakeholders from mine planning, development, land and rehabilitation crews and operational teams to achieve successful land management programs
  • Develop and lead strategically focused research and technical projects, including the use of Remote Sensing for Gamba Grass control.
  • Maintain and further develop stakeholder engagement plans and programs

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • Qualifications in Environmental Science, Ecology or related discipline
  • Experience with natural resource management and land management programs
  • Proficiency using ArcGIS
  • Experience leading research projects
  • Experience in managing multiple contractors and consultants for environmental studies

It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • Knowledge and experience using data analytical and statistical tools
  • Experience working in remote environments
