Heavy Equipment Mobile Maintenance Mechanic

Job Summary

Provides safe and cost-effective maintenance on heavy mobile mining equipment. Performing diagnostics, repairs, component removal and replacement across all systems including electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain, chassis, etc.

Responsibilities

•Maintenance of heavy mobile equipment, in an open pit mining environment

•Perform diagnostics and repairs on a variety of heavy equipment manufactured by but not limited to CAT, Kenworth, Hitachi, Ingersoll-Rand, Cummins, and Komatsu

•Fundamental understanding of the properties of the various types of fuels, oil, greases and lubricants used to service equipment.

•Uses hand tools, power tools and some welding will be required.

•Conducts Pre-trip/walk-around safety inspections and completes daily field level hazard assessments for all activities

•Troubleshoot/repair engine, transmission, electrical, drive train, and hydraulic issues,

•Assist in tasks related to predictive and preventive maintenance

•Complete maintenance reporting and other documentation as required

•Communicate effectively and professional with other team members

•Ensure compliance with all MSHA and company safety policies and procedures

•Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Requirements

•Minimum of 5 years' experience as a heavy mobile equipment mechanic, preferably in an open pit mining environment.

•experience on equipment by the above noted manufacturers is required

•Must be able to stand for long periods

•Must be able to lift 50 lbs. with and without assistance on a frequent basis

•Must meet minimum tool requirements

•Experience with CAT-ET-SIS-VIMS is preferred

•Experience with Cummins INSITE is preferred

•Willingness to assist elsewhere on the mine site when needed such as the crushing crew, leach crew, etc.

•Must be willing to train new/inexperienced employees

•Valid Driver's License
