The Opportunity:

We are seeking a qualified Mine Geologist to work with our 777 Mine Geology team, located in Flin Flon, MB. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including pension, retiree benefits and employee share purchase plan as well as profit sharing.

Relocation packages and housing assistance is available to move you and your family to the vibrant community of Flin Flon, MB. Please note that this opportunity is NOT a fly-in-fly-out position.

The successful candidate will provide geological services (grade control, mapping, mineability and dilution control etc) to mine operations for the proper execution of the mining plan. He or She will support and execute diamond drilling programs and interpret the results to explore for additional resources. They may be required to construct and re-evaluate resource wireframes to optimize mineralizing domains for resource model design and evaluation. Maximize profitability by increasing mineability and minimizing dilution through design and on-site direction.

Accountabilities:
  • Follow departmental safety program and maintain safety standards
  • Provide geological support to Engineering, Supervision and Operations in an underground setting
  • Provide grade control monitoring for assigned area in the mine.
  • Communication of daily geology information to operations by clear, concise verbal and written instructions.
  • Communicate cutoff grade calls to operations in order to maximize ore recovery.
  • Conduct geological and structural back mapping.
  • Prepare diamond drill layouts for definition drilling and log the associated core.
  • Collect geological data for the purpose of ore interpretation and reserve and resource calculations.
  • Communicate changes in ore interpretation to engineering and operations.
  • Communicate observed and potential safety hazards to mine supervision.
  • Carry out specific accountabilities as assigned by the Chief Mine Geologist.
  • Identify, analyze and recommend opportunities for safety, productivity and cost improvements.
  • Frequent underground travel is required and lifting up to 34 kg to waist height may be required

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Sciences or Geological Engineering
  • Geologist in Training (GIT) or Engineer in Training (EIT)
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiar with modeling and database software such as: MineSight, Deswick, AcQuire, Leapfrog
  • Class 5 Drivers Licence
  • Experience in mining, minimum 2 years underground
