Globe 24-7 in partnership with Newcrest Mining, is working together to source experienced and qualified talent to join their Mobile Fleet Maintenance Team at their Lihir Gold Operations (LGO).

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Specialist Mechanical to provide technical mechanical maintenance expertise in Fleet Services for the Mobile Fleet Maintenance department. Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor, you will also be required to provide guidance to and develop the local workforce skills and knowledge, training and developing the mobile mechanical crew to ensure optimum equipment availability and reliability through effectively communicating maintenance plans and monitoring and following up on consistency of maintenance standards and practices.

The Requirements
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in mobile fleet maintenance in large scale mining operations essential.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HEUI fuel systems and diagnostic tools such as VIMS and ET advantageous.
  • A systematic approach to fault finding and a good understanding of hydraulic schematics and particular skills in the diagnosing and repairing Caterpillar 3500, 3412, 3406 engines in addition to CAT 785D, 777F and 773D systems and operation.
  • Trade Certificate in Heavy Equipment Fitting essential.
  • PNG Driver's Licence - Class 6 desirable.
  • Elevated work platform, working at heights, forklift, overhead crane certifications advantageous.
  • Previous experience in the delivery and assessment of training desirable.
  • A good understanding of the Caterpillar engine, transmission, hydraulic and steering systems.
  • A good understanding of the effective use of CAT ET and CAT SIS systems.
  • Proficient in English with excellent verbal, written communication and public speaking skills.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Sound planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training
