The Role: Mine Accountant, Werris Creek, Shared Services (Newcastle, NSW)
The Mine Accountant is responsible for preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting for a mine site; stewardship of the ledger; utilisation of BI systems to prepare insightful reporting and understand business performance; fulfill joint venture reporting requirements.
There will be occasional trips to site in near Tamworth to help you gain knowledge of the site and you will be liaising with the onsite Commercial Management team.

The Mine Accountant is responsible for preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting for a mine site; stewardship of the ledger; utilisation of BI systems to prepare insightful reporting and understand business performance; fulfill joint venture reporting requirements.

To be successful in the role you will:
- Complete the month end process as per timetable, including finalisation of month end accounts and preparation of variance analysis against budget and/or forecast.
- Prepare and enter any standard journals into the ERP (prepayments, accruals, commitment journals etc.)
- Manage all accounting and financial reporting, including monthly site reporting and ad-hoc reporting as required.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and proactively resolve items.
- Complete all audit requirements including hard close, half and full year audit processes, and joint venture accounting and reporting.
- Ad-hoc financial reporting, analysis and cost initiatives as required.
- Stewardship of the general ledger for applicable company codes, ensuring the correct allocation and recognition of expenses.
- Develop expertise in BI software to drive reporting and insights which can be utilised by the mine site and the broader business.
- Involvement in testing of system updates.
The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications, experience and qualities:
- Bachelor of Commerce / Accounting / Business or related field
- CPA or CA membership, or intention to progress towards membership
- Mine accounting experience
- Variance analysis and month end reporting
- General Ledger experience (Pulse Mining ERP or Similar)
- BI System experience (TM1 / IBM Planning Analytics or similar)
