ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. We have been operating at Meadowbank, our first Low Arctic mine, near Baker Lake for over nine years. The mine produced its three millionth ounce of gold in 2018. 2019 marked the last year of production at the Meadowbank mine, and has since transitioned to process ore from the Amaruq satellite deposit. With the official opening of the Amaruq Whale Tail Project in August 2019, the project is now referred to as the Meadowbank Complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Underground Project Engineer, the Underground Long Range Planning Engineer is part of the Engineering Department and collaborates with other departments of the mine. The Underground Long Range Planning Engineer will play a critical role in the transition of the underground project from exploration to engineering as they will provide competent and professional long term mine planning. They will consider the LOM, underground mine designs, production plans, forecasting and other mining engineering support considerations, including providing specific data and designs to other sectors of engineering. They will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Prepare and implement the life of mine (LOM), budget and necessary economic analysis for mine operation and underground infrastructures;
  • Perform semi-annual mining reserves (MRMR) and mine stope optimization (MSO) exercises for the underground resource;
  • Present forecasts to operations for approval;
  • Develop, prepare and design the Strategic LT Mining Plan and assess opportunities;
  • Receive and analyze new mine design guidelines (block model, economical parameters);
  • Integrate underground planning schedule with current open pit structure;
  • Develop tools, procedures and systems to ensure robust long range planning;
  • Provide mining expertise and coaching to junior team members, where required.
