To optimise on new opportunities Downer is seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager in Water and Waste water to be based in our North Ryde (Sydney) office on a full time permanent basis.

The Senior Design Manager will have demonstrated experience in the management of water and wastewater design projects including delivery of full detailed design scopes for waste water treatment plants. Experience in managing the performance of internal engineering and drafting personnel and managing external sub-consultants is essential. Experience in commissioning, construction and operation of water and waste water treatment plants will also be highly regarded.

ABOUT YOU
  • Degree in Mechanical / Process / Civil Engineering coupled with demonstrated experience in design and construction of water and waste water treatment plant projects
  • CPEng and REPQ accreditation preferred
  • Minimum 15 years' of relevant experience and recognised expertise in the design and delivery of infrastructure particularly water and waste water projects
  • Experience with delivering MBR Technology desirable
  • Thorough understanding of construction practices and methodologies
  • Demonstrated capacity to identify innovations, realise opportunities and maximize value for money through the design process
  • A demonstrated capacity to identify, manage and mitigate the key design risks in order that they do not adversely impact on the project through its lifecycle
  • Highly developed skills in all forms of communication that enable effective interaction between management, employees, contractors and the ability to foster relationships with customers/clients.
  • Well-developed commercial, business, financial, conceptual and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated leadership that strives towards the commitment to Safety in Design and Zero Harm
  • Demonstrated capability to deliver complex, multi discipline Engineering projects on time and budget with acceptable quality standards and experience with related project controls principals
