Located in the Great Sandy Desert in East Pilbara, Telfer is a fly in out fly out operation from Perth which recognizes the importance of work-life balance. Our comfortable, well furnished rooms include Foxtel, and our site offers quality food with healthy options, medical care, sports and recreation activities. Families are welcomed several times a year to open days to support our community feel at Telfer.



Who we are looking for

We have an exciting opportunity for an agile and organised Tool Storeperson to support our Mill Maintenance department at Telfer and assist in timely execution of tasks. As an integral member of the Maintenance team, you will actively participate in site safety initiatives, maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the tool store and strive for continuous improvement of tool store procedures.

This busy yet rewarding role will also see you support planning and supervision with kitting and staging development and play a key role in projects related to our tooling tagging system.

Other key deliverables of this role include:
  • Action tooling returns immediately including accountability for shutdown tooling returns
  • Inspect all returned tooling for serviceability and condition and ensure all tools stored in correct location
  • Maintain adequate levels of PPE and general tooling and raise awareness of inadequate levels
  • Collect all lifting and rigging gear and raise awareness of damaged gear, and collect electrical tooling for repair
  • Liaise with planning and scheduling for parts requirements, locations and movements, and with stores for weekly deliveries and missing items



To succeed in this role, you will be a natural team player, with good communication skills and a can-do attitude. You will be respected by your peers for your safety-first approach and ability to make decisions in ambiguous and dynamic situations.

In addition to the above keys skills you will ideally have:
  • Previous experience as a Trades Assistant or in Stores or Tooling role
  • Computer literacy and experience with SAP preferred
  • Hold a Forklift and HR licence
  • Enjoy working autonomously and effectively utilise time
  • Proven eye for detail and being able to multi-task especially whilst working under pressure


Please note: This is a permanent full-time role at our Telfer mine site, FIFO from Perth on an 8/6 roster.
