What You’ll Do :

Be Safe. Take an active roles in prioritizing safety in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards throughout the plant for yourself and others at all times.

Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work. Managing the operation schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, and work procedures of aggregate production including quarrying, mining, processing, stockpiling, loading and shipping. Planning the daily operations of plant production operation to ensure cost efficiency and optimal utilization of plant, equipment, and personnel.

Guiding, Directing, and Coaching Others. Setting performance standards and implementing Vulcan standards, while providing guidance and direction to employees by engaging, coaching, mentoring, and helping others to improve their knowledge or skills.

Coordinating the Work and Activities of Others. Planning/scheduling production requirements (people & equipment) to support daily, weekly and monthly sales forecasts to meet customer’s needs. Overseeing the selection, hiring, training, change of status and separation of employees.

Monitor Processes and Materials. Analyzing production, quality control, and operational reports with a focus on continuous improvement activities to reduce costs and improve operating efficiency across the plant.

Developing Objectives and Strategies. Establishing short and long range business planning strategies and actions to achieve them, including an annual operating budget which includes production volume and capital improvements.

Collaborate with Others. Continuously work with other members of Vulcan Materials Company, such as sales, human resources, and government relations to improve customer and community satisfaction and relations.Skills You’ll Need :

Experience. Previous experience in supervising production employees preferably at either an aggregate, sand/gravel or asphalt plant preferred. Experience supervising a union workforce is preferred.

Industry Knowledge. Thorough knowledge of plant operation (aggregate, asphalt, ready-mix) and its associated products, processes and related equipment.

Passion for Safety. Knowledge of best practices related to safety and environmental rules and regulations (MSHA and OSHA).

Leadership. Ability to solve complex problems, understand business planning and financial forecasting requirements, and develop cooperative working relationships with others.

Comfortable with Technology. Ability to use Microsoft Office, Google, Oracle Business Environment and other software to record, store, and maintain relevant and confidential information.

Working Conditions. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
