Overview / Responsibilities

Wood currently has an opportunity available for a Materials Manager to join our Mining & Minerals business in Oakville and at our construction project site . Reporting to the Manager(s), Supply Chain and Construction and working alongside other team members at the construction site after transitioning from our local office in Oakville, you will have the opportunity to provide support on one of our major projects. Responsibilities:
  • Managing laydown operations
  • Escorting trucks to offloading area and supervising offload
  • Verifying and inspecting materials
  • Assisting with scheduled inspections and performing activities as required
  • Verifying Identification tags of equipment
  • Assisting with reviewing cargo documentation prior to receiving equipment at site, in-transit material coordination, receiving and issuing
  • Entering cargo documentation into the Project Management System to support up to date reporting
  • Coordinating requests for cargo from offsite warehouse to site as required, and assisting with outbound cargo coordination as required
  • Assisting with OS&D paperwork as required
  • Scanning and/or filing electronic copies of all Shipping Releases, Packing Slips, Way Bills and Invoices in the Project Drive
  • Attending meetings and coordinating between expediting and construction teams
  • Liaising with project scheduler to obtain current construction required on site (ROS) dates
  • Assisting in the management of the preservation program
  • Generating various reports and providing input to material control activity status
  • Work independently and displaying task ownership
  • Displaying a strong commitment to safety and environmental protection issues
  • Other duties as assigned


Skills / Qualifications

  • Minimum 8-10 years of logistics and expediting experience on heavy industrial projects within a construction environment, preferably in remote or international locations.
  • recognized supply chain management certification or equivalent
  • Good understanding of the forwarding, customs clearing and shipping principles, permits, logistics management and supply chain strategies.
  • Good understanding of Standard Procurement Terms and Incoterms 2020 and the relationship these have with head contract.
  • Good understanding of local laws for transport and ability to gather all required information.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate a team and service providers.
  • Knowledge and experience in working in remote locations.
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on MS Office applications, SharePoint, Electronic Project Management Systems, including data base manipulation
  • Authorization to work lawfully in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
