Project Controller

Barrick is looking for a Project Controller position to join the Expansion Project team. This role will performs the activities of monitoring and control of the Resettlement program. Reports project progress to Management. Detects deviations and suggests project adjustments when required. Supports the different areas of the Project using project standards. Verifies compliance to IFC and other standards. Administers assurance and compliance consultants.

Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for leading Resettlement Project Controls aspects of Cost Control, Scheduling & Reporting efforts as follows:
  • Support implementation of the project controls plan developed to ensure the efficient, timely and cost-effective construction planning, execution, performance and monitoring of the resettlement n project.
  • Lead ongoing estimate development and trending liaising with the Project Manager to maintain a functional Trend Program and accurate forecast cost, and schedule.
  • Coordinate weekly progress measurement and capture progress of the resettlement activities.
  • Coordinate monthly progress payments certifications as required.
  • Manage and supervise all activities related to the monitoring and control of the resettlement progress, conforming to the resettlement policy framework, identifying risks and opportunities and generating strategic alliances, with the objective to ensure that the resettlement project deviations are offset and controlled
2. Manage the Resettlement implementation plan progress
3. Ensure all Data related to the resettlement and compensation is properly managed.
4. Prepares progress reports.
5. Manages the compliance and assurance consultants required for the RAP implementation compliance control.
6. Controls budget, schedule, and scope compliance.
7. Monitors use of contingency
8. Assists the Project on the resettlement analysis of social risks and opportunities. Maintains the project risk register
9. Performs earned value analysis as appropriate

Qualifications:
  • B.Sc in Industrial Engineering or Engineering or Administrator with Project Management experience, Project Management (PMP certification highly desirable)
  • Knowledge of MS Office, and Project
  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience in the industrial/mining sector in the Dominican Republic/ Latin America as Project Controller
  • Knowledge of IFC Performance Standards, UNVPs, ICMM, UNGP (desirable)
  • Knowledge of PMI techniques is a must (experience controlling social projects is a plus)
  • Project management experience, with demonstrated ability to develop strategic plans and achieve results
  • Ability to contribute to the development of technical proposals
  • Experience analyzing data and producing evaluation reports, project audit experience is desirable
  • Strong computer skills, facilitation skills
  • Excellent communicator in both languages (English/Spanish)
