Description

Develop and implement the strategy and contingency planning for a portfolio of high dollar / high risk categories using the latest supply chain tools and global market intelligence to deliver the lowest total cost solution to the company. Interface with Operational Improvement and Project Engineering groups to collaboratively develop long-term company strategies. This position is the commercial subject matter expert for their portfolio of categories and will lead the cross functional implementation of the strategy by working directly with the Vendor Management team.
  • Build, develop and maintain complex should-cost models focused on multiple categories within the portfolio
  • Develop and continually refine the long-term strategies within the portfolio to deliver the best long-term value for the company
  • Effectively write business communications of the strategies for Leadership, Operations, Maintenance and other key stakeholders through Master Strategy Summaries, and other executive level communications
  • Lead market evaluations and studies as it pertains to the portfolio of categories to provide a knowledge base for the Category Management Team, GSC and company leadership
  • Keep up with trends in the relevant markets by identifying potential opportunities and risks within new markets and adjust strategies accordingly to this opportunities and risks for company strategies
  • Identify and develop potential new suppliers - building a good supply bench for the categories
  • Develop new categories which previously had not been managed or need updated strategies to bring more leverage opportunity to the company
  • Work with third party consultants in the review, audit, development and creation of new category strategies
  • Maintain competencies in emerging supply chain strategies
  • Perform other duties as requested


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree AND seven (7) years of experience in Supply Chain, Business, Accounting, Engineering or related field, OR
  • Master's degree AND five (5) years of experience in supply chain and/or contract negotiation /development
  • Lead, understand, explain and monitor market indices and changes within the market & how they impact the category
  • Strong technical communication skills/effective communication of technical information written and verbal
  • Utilizing strong business fundamentals
  • Enjoys getting into the data and using the analysis of the data to drive decisions and strategies
  • Mining or heavy industry knowledge in Operations and the entire procure to pay process
  • Can lead cross functional teams in information gathering and issue resolution collaboration
  • Proven ability to lead by indirect influence
  • Demonstrated strong collaboration skills (listening, interpreting, empathizing, challenging)
  • Ability to develop strong relationships to work collaboratively and cross functionally in the development of strategies


Preferred Qualifications:

  • System and Process capabilities and proficiencies: CAS, SAP, Commercial T&C's, Contract Writing /templates
  • Be able to develop and implement Should-cost modeling for multiple categories
  • At least five (5) years of experience in negotiations with large multi-national companies working with their senior level leadership.
  • Significant experience in managing multiple $50M+ categories in the Mining, Industrial, Heavy Manufacturing, etc. industries
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with and presenting to Senior & C Suite level leadership as a Category Subject Matter Expert

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Position is in busy, non-smoking office located in downtown Phoenix, AZ
  • Location requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by elevator
  • Occasionally work will be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds
