An opportunity has opened for a Principal Mining Engineer to join the planning team of a leading mid tier base/precious metal producer. The role will be FIFO to their underground mine situated 1 hour north-east of Perth. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly regarded planning team in an exciting role for a Principal Mining Engineer.

The role:
The role will involve the preparation of the life of mine plan (LOM), budget mine plan, ore reserves, evaluation of mining areas, and ensuring a practical link between the long term and short term plans.

Duties:
  • The duties will include tasks such as preparing and communicating the LOM design and schedule,the annual budget mine design and schedule as well as the Ore Reserves design, schedule and reporting
  • Liaising with the Mine Planning and Scheduling Engineers to provide a suitable bridge from LOM and budget plans to 3 month and weekly plans
  • Collaborating with colleagues in other departments to ensure inputs and outputs are suitable to maximise whole mine value
  • Assisting the Mining Manager and Technical Services Manager to deliver mine design plans in addition to short, medium and long term schedules to meet budgeted targets.
About you:
To succeed in this role you will need to demonstrate a high level of drive, excellent communication skills and strong problem solving and analytical skills. You will also need 10 plus years experience in an underground mine.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
  • Competent person for underground metalliferous mining ore reserves.
