Technician / Tool Store person

Work Location: Cloudbreak Mine Site

Roster: 8D6R - FIFO ex Perth

We are currently seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Technician/Tool Store person for the Fortescue Trades Training Centre. Our Trade Training Centre is Fortescue's hub for the training of our trade apprentices and professional development of our tradespeople.

Reporting to the Training Supervisors, the position will comprise of maintaining machining, fabrication, and automotive equipment in the workshop, ordering training resource material and the operation and supervision of specialist heavy machinery.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Ensuring compliance with all FMG policies and procedures
  • Operating and supervising personnel on the safe use of the Water Jet Cutter
  • Ability to carry out all tasks and responsibilities required to maintain an effective tool store in tooling audits and checks
  • Establish and execute maintenance schedules to ensure all equipment is serviced, safe and operational
  • Maintaining a high level of safety awareness both for themselves and those around them
  • Ordering and receiving training resources and material through SAP and Ariba
  • Prepare equipment and materials to support the delivery of training.

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Experience with the SAP operating system is essential
  • Mechanical aptitude or trade experience
  • Demonstrated previous experience with operating cutting machines using computerised numerical control (CNC) will be regarded highly
  • Demonstrated previous experience within tool store (Desirable)
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Computer skills including intermediate Microsoft Office package (Excel and Word) and SAP
  • Relevant experience in forklift operations with the appropriate licence (Mandatory)
  • Manual driver's licence
  • High Risk licence - Dogging (Desirable)
  • A self starter able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Possess a highly developed Can do attitude
