Ravensworth Complex comprises of the Ravensworth Open Cut and Coal Handling Preparation Plant that provides high quality coal for the export market. The operation has approval to mine over 14Mtpa, with a mine life to 2034 with potential continuation opportunities. Our equipment includes Cat 6090 hydraulic face shovels and 6060 & 6040 excavators, Bucyrus SKS/F Rotary drills, Letourneau L1850 wheel loaders, Caterpillar 797F/789D rear dump trucks & Caterpillar ancillary equipment.

An opportunity exists at our open cut operation for a Safety Coordinator to advise, support and assist Managers and Supervisors in the implementation of safety systems, procedures and policies. You will also be key in driving a safety culture through implementation of safety initiatives and acting as a role model to reinforce safe behaviours.

Reporting to the Health, Safety & Training Manager, your day-to-day activities will include;
  • Coordinate risk management processes and provide facilitative support for process change and operational risk assessments.
  • Coordinate and undertake reviews of site compliance as it relates to work place health and safety against applicable NSW and National legislation, industry codes of practice and Coal industry orders.
  • Facilitate and or participate in investigations for work place incidents that are categorised as serious.
  • Coordinate and monitor the Targeted Visible Leadership process.
  • Provide coaching and support to site middle and line management in conducting and recording investigations into minor workplace incidents;
  • Coordinate & maintain emergency response management system on site.


The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, coupled with demonstrated leadership, to drive a high-performance culture, role modeling and reinforcing the behaviours that will underpin the success of the operation.

You will have;
  • Diploma level or above in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent area of study.
  • Certification in GMIRM (G3) Global Minerals Industry Risk Management
  • Incident Investigation Qualifications (ICAM)
  • Three (3) or more years in a health and safety role in mining or other heavy industry.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
