Located in the Great Sandy Desert in Western Australia, Telfer is a fly in fly out operation from Perth which recognizes the importance of work-life balance. Our comfortable, well furnished rooms

include Foxtel, and our site offers quality food with healthy options, medical care, sports and recreation activities. Families are welcomed several times a year to open days to support our community feel at Telfer.



Who we are looking for

We are seeking a level-headed and proactive Mechanical Supervisor to join the Mill Maintenance Department at Telfer and lead the onsite Maintenance Team to ensure all work is carried out in a safe, structured, and timely manner.

In addition to providing direct leadership, you will interface with the Operations, Engineering, Metallurgy and Planning Teams to ensure robust plans for maintenance. You will also manage assets and processes in line with Asset Management best practices and compliance with Newcrest's policies, procedures and standards ensuring Safe, Sustainable and Reliable performance.

Other key deliverables of the role include:
  • Maintain responsibility for all employees, contractors and subcontractors, assets, workshops, offices, facilities, work areas and activities
  • Ensure compliance with the Mines Safety and Inspection Act, Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations and statutory compliance of all assets, people and activities
  • Conduct regular audits to verify that the safe systems of work and hazard controls are implemented and effective
  • Ensure SAP use is consistent with the established Newcrest standards
  • Actively monitor and review performance and address any deviances from target; actively report on performance, progress against objectives, and escalate critical issues.


To succeed in this role, you will be a forward-looking leader with excellent work-ethics and a passion for continuous improvement. Your ability to communicate effectively and collaborate at all levels in the organisation will work towards achievement of desired outcomes and engagement of your team and key stakeholders. In addition to your finely tuned problem-solving and decision-making abilities, you will also have:
  • Trade qualified with a background in Ore Processing Equipment or Fixed Plant Maintenance within Mining
  • Experience in a Gold Processing Plant is highly desired
  • Proven frontline leadership experience within large-scale complex operations
  • Experience with shutdown planning and coordination is desirable
  • High commitment to safety along with excellent decision making and delegation skills
  • Computer literacy and understanding of SAP will be beneficial



Please note: This is a permanent role that will work on a FIFO (8/6), flying out of Perth.
