Superintendent Operational Readiness - Organisational Change management Winu Project
  • Unique opportunity to join a ground-breaking project for Rio Tinto in Western Australia
  • High profile role with license to engage across the business model and with senior leaders
  • Work across the entire value chain of an evolving business from exploration to operations to sales

Rio Tinto is looking to the Winu Project to break the mould of greenfield project development within the company. Winu is a copper-gold deposit which is being developed in a staged approach applying minimum viable project (MVP) concepts taken from the technology startup industry to really challenge the traditional ways in which a greenfields mining project is developed and operated.

The Winu Operational Readiness (OR) Team is charged with identifying and developing a fit for purpose operation to suit both the Winu Stage 1 MVP operation and establish the foundations for an eventual larger Stage 2 operation.

An exciting opportunity now exists for a Superintendent Organisational Change Management to join the Winu Operational Readiness team.

About the role

The Superintendent Organisational Change Management is a critical role in the development of the OR program for Winu. Working directly with the OR manager you will play a key part in defining the Winu Production system and how the MVP concept will be applied to it.

You will work across the full value chain, supporting the OR Team SMEs in the application of the Winu Production system within their area of accountability and identifying how the MVP approach will differ from a typical Rio Tinto approach.

You will support the OR Team SMEs in the integration of the MVP approach in the wider Rio Tinto through organizational change management using tools such as change management assessments and stakeholder management strategies.

Additionally you will manage a small team of professionals who will support the OR team through the development and delivery of:
  • The Winu Functional Model
  • Program Management activities
  • General administrative support

What you will bring
  • Significant experience with organizational change management and stakeholder management
  • A personal approach to the safety and consideration of people living through major changes
  • Demonstrated ability to look beyond a single function and consolidate disparate parts into a single business approach aligned to a single goal
  • Highly evolved stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating across complex organisations
  • Experience managing a small team of professional employees
  • Highly organised with capability to inject this across a team to drive outcomes in a timely manner

It would be beneficial if you had;
  • Direct experience within an Operational Readiness function
  • Direct experience with Rio Tinto's approach to OR
  • Cross functional experience base
  • Understanding of systems engineering, business process framework or IDEF0 modeling

You will be able to demonstrate a commitment to health, safety, and environmental stewardship within yourself, your team, your peers, our partners and the asset we build.

What we offer
Joining the Winu team at this early stage offers the opportunity to be part of the small team that will define and shape what Winu looks like in the future. You will have the opportunity, and the license, to challenge the traditional approach to mining and put your personal stamp on an operation which will shape the way Rio Tinto develops and operates mines in the future.
