The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Superintendent, Business Support, to join our Copper Cliff Nickel Refinery Operations.

The Business Support Superintendent will support plant management with their goals and objectives by implementing and optimizing divisional initiatives and business processes. The role maintains the site risk management registry and manages plant improvement initiatives. This role leads the plant administrators and VPS/CI support roles at the site. This role is an essential development role for the Manager Position.

Although previous experience in mining or an industrial setting is considered an asset, we also appreciate that diversity of thought comes from our differences – and that’s what makes us great!

Education:
  • Undergraduate or a College Diploma in an Engineering or Technical discipline.

Experience:
  • 8+ years of progressive relevant experience in a supervisory or technical support role.
  • Preferred experience in maintenance, operations and technical.
  • Diverse experience is essential for this role, since this role is a preferred pre-requisite for Manager Role. This role is valued as a rotational position for Superintendents development. Superintendents would rotate through this position and others such as the Reliability, Maintenance, Operational Superintendent roles).
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business systems and processes (ex. PeopleSoft, Overtime canvassing, Document control, Procedures, eMOC, SAP).

Accountabilities:
  • Develop, coordinate and execute external and plant wide initiatives (safety, standards, communications, environment, HR, surveys, audits) (Coordinate).
  • Maintain site risk management registry (Coordinate).
  • Manages plant improvement initiatives (Coordinate).
  • Participate with Operations Finance Partner in defining plant business value drivers and budget (Service giving).
  • Lead Plant Administrative Support(s) and optimize plant admin functions (Prescribe).
  • Lead Vale Production System (VPS) and Continuous Improvement (CI) support person(s).
  • Participate in a Business Support Community of Practice ensuring best practice and consistent application of initiatives (Coordinate).
  • Lead coordination of plant metrics (Coordinate).
  • Serve as plant focal point for ISO standards (Coordinate).
  • Liaise with other departments as required to help plant management decisions on short term objectives (Coordinate).
  • Perform function as Designate Acting Manager when Manager is away.
