ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. Commercial production began at Meliadine in mid-May 2019 and the mine officially opened at the end of June. This mine is our largest gold deposit in terms of mineral resources and we expect to operate it for at least 14 years. The site features a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Projects Coordinator, t he Ventilation Engineer will perform their duties as a member of the Engineering Department and collaborate with other departments of the division. The incumbent will be responsible for the underground ventilation system, including system design, review, modeling reporting, testing and optimization initiatives. A thorough working knowledge of ventilation modeling software and simulations is a must. They will act as the liaison between the Engineering and Mine Operations Departments with regards to all ventilation related activities. The Ventilation Engineer will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Work with the Production Engineers and project team members to plan for the ventilation demands, ensuring safe underground activities;
  • Review current ventilation designs to ensure alignment with LOM production targets;
  • Compile and verify fan installation data in Centric, consolidating data and producing the various KPI reports and upkeeping the ventilator register;
  • Preparation of technical reports, which may include topics such as budgetary evaluations, load list estimates, design criteria, concept designs, and emergency simulations;
  • Prepare installation plans and follow up with installation inspections;
  • Ensure regular updates of the ventilation program are made and provide training to the different groups of interest to guarantee compliance;
  • Define air quality instrumentation and monitoring requirements for all underground operations;
  • Perform product trial studies and analysis with suppliers and consultants to optimize LOM products.
