Summary

The person in this position will work on projects involving natural stream channel assessment, monitoring, and design; fluvial geomorphology; hydraulic and hydrologic analysis; and related technical activities. Working as an individual or as part of a project team, assignments may include development of plans and specifications, grading plans, and earthwork balance calculations; creation of erosion protection plans; cost estimating; and fieldwork such as data collection, construction observation, and surveying. Tasks may also include hydrologic and/or hydraulic modeling and analysis, open channel and pipe flow design, water control and/or stormwater structure design, and water balance analysis. The work will also involve communicating with permitting agencies and public officials and writing reports.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, agricultural, biosystems/bioproducts, or related engineering field with an emphasis on water resources engineering
  • 5 years of water resources engineering experience with a focus on hydrology and/or water quality
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following: natural stream channel design, plans and specifications development, earthwork and grading plans, cost estimating, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, and stream water quality issues
  • Strong computer skills, including use of word processing, spreadsheets, and modeling software
  • Working knowledge of GIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other CADD software
  • Working knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic computer modeling packages
  • Flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedule as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs
  • Demonstrated written and oral presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Acceptable driving record
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in civil, environmental, or biosystems/bioproducts engineering
  • 6+ years of consulting engineering experience
  • Strong technical skills in a wide range of civil engineering topics
  • Project design experience (e.g., stream restoration and/or stabilization), including cost estimating and preparation of plans and specifications
  • Experience with GIS, CADD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and hydrologic and hydraulic models
  • Project or task management experience
  • Excellent writing skills


NOTE: Some work locations may feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and may also require entering and working within facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Job assignments may involve work on waste disposal sites and sites requiring cleanup of hazardous materials. An OSHA mandated physical exam may be required. Safety training will be provided.
