Downer Defence Systems provides a broad range of professional and managed services, asset sustainment and estate upkeep services to the Australian Defence Force, the New Zealand Defence Force and other government agencies

Position Summary

Downer Defence Systems is a growing name in the Defence sector, currently seen as the 8th largest supplier to the industry Downer has ambitious growth plans to continue to see our services and footprint expand to meet the needs of the Commonwealth.

This challenging opportunity is for an accomplished consulting Director who will lead the growth of the land domain in the Defence Capability account. You will manage all aspects of the land domain to achieve quality outcomes for our clients, meeting profit and loss targets while leading and developing our people. You will build and grow our name in the industry by leveraging your own experience, networks and skills to nurture and develop new business opportunities while keeping customer engagement high on existing contracts. Experience in the Defence's Capability Life Cycle is highly desirable.

A bit about you

• Proven experience in a senior leadership role, including continued business development and P&L responsibilities.
• Strong leadership experience with a track record of managing the changing dynamics of teams servicing the Defence in the land domain.
• Proven cost management ability with strong financial experience in a Professional Services environment.
• Tertiary qualifications in business management, finance, IT, engineering or a related field.
• Extensive networks in Canberra across Joint and Land organisations.
• Demonstrated track record in establishing and managing relationships with clients.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid AGSVA security clearance, NV1 preferable.
• Defence background/experience, ideally to the Land domain.
• Based in Canberra.
