Job Title: Senior Simulation Engineer - Battery Technology
Salary: £46,000 to £57,000 (Depending on Experience)
Location : Peterborough, Cambridgeshire
Benefits: 25 days annual leave,
12% base salary bonus (subject to Company performance)
Contributory pension scheme- Caterpillar will double the employee's contribution Up to 10%
Contributory share scheme- Caterpillar will matched 50% of the employee's contribution

The Position:
We are currently seeking a Simulation Senior Engineer to join the newly formed Advanced Powered Products Team focused on designing, developing and validating a range of battery pack and systems for a variety of Caterpillar and 3 rd Party applications. The successful candidate will serve as an experienced, individual contributor on projects and assignments that are complex in nature, working with individuals and teams across multiple business units both in the UK and US.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
As a Senior Simulation Engineer you will be involved in developing, validating and using 1D battery models within an exciting and diverse Product Team. These 1D models will include electrical, thermal and state-of-health models to represent battery behaviour and will be used to help design the battery packs and systems, evaluate control system strategies, and applied within complete machine or sub-system models. You will be expected to:

You will be expected to:
- Contribute to the identification, analysis, and resolution of needs and problems in your discipline
- Perform complex analysis work, identify and solve problems to cost and time
- Develop and evaluate related simulation processes
- Keep up to date on new technologies or develop new technologies in the related field
- Communicate tailored technical information to internal and external customers, team members, and suppliers
- Develop and maintain a keen understanding of internal and external customers' needs
- Accredited Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering subject - i.e. Engineering, Computer Science, plus some relevant academic or industrial experience in Simulation Application
- Self-starter with good problem solving and strong analytical skills, specifically:
- 1 year+ Matlab/Simulink experience within controls or simulation roles.
- Knowledge of thermal and battery simulation methods
- Ability to develop 1D models from the ground up (e.g. derive maths and code into Mathworks), coupled with a pragmatic approach required for quick response, and ideas for improving the models for future use
- Ability to develop 1D simulation scenarios; correlate 1D simulations to hand calculations to check assumptions/methods; setup/run/report on simulations and document processes and results
- A desire to be innovative, curious and to use initiative to understand the simulated systems
