OVERVIEW

Alexco Resource Corp. owns the majority of the historic high-grade Keno Hill Silver District located in Canada’s Yukon Territory. With nearly 1,000 meters of underground development completed at our two new deposits and a robust Pre-Feasibility Study released, Alexco is advancing the district towards a production decision with the goal of production in Q4 2020. This is a great opportunity to be part of the team that is building one of the highest-grade silver operations in the world.

We are looking for an experienced and qualified Human Resources professional to work for the Keno Hill mine site in the Yukon. Currently we have an opportunity for a suitably experienced Human Resources professional to join their Operations Team in the Yukon, working an ongoing 14 days on /14 days off work on a FIFO arrangement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including but not limited to, employees, management, team members, client representatives, First Nations and third-party service providers;
  • Support the recruitment process;
  • Hands on approach to resourcing the mine site as per the agreed schedules;
  • Monitor HR metrics (e.g. turnover rates and cost-per-hire);
  • Educate and guide managers and employees with respect to HR policies and procedures, including accurate and efficient completion, processing of key HR compliances, such as performance and salary reviews;
  • Provide support to stakeholders regarding employee relations and performance management, including supporting management with performance issues as they arise;
  • Research and update HR related policies and procedures specific to the site and territory as required;
  • Actively pursue understanding of legislation amendments relating to the HR function and ensure that work is conducted within legislative parameters;
  • Work within the HRIS system identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

THE REQUIREMENTS

  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience;
  • Qualifications in HR or a related discipline;
  • Previous HR experience;
  • Understanding of relevant HR practices and procedures to ensure compliance with employment law and local legislation and regulations;
  • Willingness to work in a site-based role on a FIFO from Toronto;
  • Previous experience establishing HR systems and procedures, including recruitment and mobilization;
  • Customer Service orientated and able to forge strong working relationships with operational heads of department;
  • High degree of emotional intelligence;
  • An understanding of underground hard rock mining – preferred.
