About the role
We are offering an Environmental/Civil Engineering internship in Ridgeway, South Carolina. This opportunity is based at one of our legacy sites, within the Rio Tinto Closure team. In this role, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team tasked with delivering engineering studies and projects aimed at optimizing operations/maintenance and closure execution at several legacy sites. You will have the opportunity to be involved in end to end project management, risk management, field inspections/investigations and reporting.

What you'll bring
  • At least one year completed in Environmental or Civil Engineering / Environmental Sciences, HSE or other related field
  • Safety mindset
  • Leadership skills, eagerness to learn and ready for the challenge ahead
  • Flexibility and Autonomy
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
  • Valid driving license

Where you will be working
Rio Tinto Closure (RTC) is the business that safely transforms Rio Tinto's end of life mining, processing and infrastructure assets by developing innovative and sustainable solutions to leave a positive closure legacy. We collaborate with all parts of Rio Tinto to focus on maximizing post operational opportunities, de-risking and reducing the scale of closure liabilities and executing existing and near term closures at optimal cost. This role is based in Ridgeway, 35 miles north of Columbia, South Carolina.
