The role reports to the Industry Marketing Manager and supports the development and execution of industry marketing initiatives for the Resource Industries Sales, Service & Technology division as part of the Mining Center of Excellence. The primary focus of the position will be to develop of marketing plans, messages and content for key revenue-generating mining products, with a heavy emphasis on execution in the web & digital space and developing thought leadership content that highlights the value of Caterpillar mining products and solutions.

Incumbent must have ability to work with people from many different backgrounds and cultures, internally and externally, with the appropriate influence and ability to resolve differences. Good human relations skills are required to develop a collaborative/cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the business unit - including product groups, go-to-market teams, Distribution Services Divisions, corporate marketing teams and other industry groups, dealer marketing partners, creative agencies, trade press, media and industry organizations.

Focus areas & responsibilities:
  • Working with product and go-to-market teams to identify annual industry marketing needs & priorities
  • Gathering VOC, input and feedback from field and dealer teams
  • Prioritizing and aligning marketing plans with other enterprise / divisional initiatives where needed
  • Developing specific marketing plans and strategies, including investment and budgetary needs
  • Working to a monthly execution plan; meeting specific timelines, dates and targets
  • Developing and tracking appropriate metrics
  • Managing a large portfolio of initiatives across a broad industry marketing support ecosystem
  • Effectively working and collaborating with internal and external teams
  • Collaborating closely with the e-Business team and creative agencies on marketing automation
  • Developing essential marketing messages, themes and approaches
  • Creating appropriate marketing content to support these needs; directing creative teams with a heavy focus on digital content (videos, infographics, articles, etc)
  • Executing marketing plans with a primary focus on the mining web & digital channels (marketing automation, social media, Cat.com, etc)
  • Supporting customer and dealer programs, events, visits and meetings
  • Engaging with industry associations, conferences, trade shows, etc.
  • Supporting general marketing, advertising and promotional needs


Basic Qualifications:
  • A college or university degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5 to 8 years experience of specific industry experience in order to gain recognition as a Divisional and company expert.


Top Candidates Will Also Have:
  • At least 4 years' of industry or dealer experience out of which 3 years must be in marketing communications, including OEM (manufacturing or mining preferred) product marketing and promotion experience.
  • Excellent human relation, project management and customer service skills - with a proven ability to develop a cooperative work relationship both inside and outside the division.
  • Global projects experience within a global manufacturing company.
  • An understanding of the mining industry, machines and its customers.
  • An ability to apply customer insights, research, analytics to strategies.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills and examples of Successful Marketing and Communication Strategies with results.
  • Experience with CRM/marketing automation software such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Experience in Marketing Analytics.
  • Caterpillar (or other OEM / Manufacture Marketing) field or dealer experience.
  • Business to Business (B2B) Marketing / Creative Agency experience.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with people across many different backgrounds and cultures, internally and externally, with the appropriate influence and ability to resolve differences.
  • Strong organizational, planning and communication skills.
  • Broad business background, specific long-term industry knowledge and excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in the marketing communications discipline.
  • Strong verbal and written English proficiency.
