The Gruyere gold deposit in Western Australia is one of Australia's most exciting new gold mine sites. Gold Road Resources and Gold Fields are proud to have an established 50/50 JV partnership over Gruyere.

Role Details

Reporting to the Mining Manager, you will be responsible for quality execution and delivery of the mining plan in all mining areas. Directing mining operations to safely achieve Business Plan requirements. Contribute directly to the achievement of operational goals through ensuring effective execution of the mine plan, and maintenance of operational standards throughout all mining areas.

This role is offered on an 8 days on 6 days off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of Gold Fields and ensures that the Vital Behaviours are adhered to at all times;
  • Conduct, lead and participate in safety investigations, risk assessments, inspections, reviews and audits to support continued improvements to safety;
  • Manage the daily, weekly and monthly activities of the department to ensure that plans are effective, compliance is achieved, costs are minimised and the operating and capital budgets are achieved in the identified KPIs;
  • Overview of mining contract performance, assessing monthly claims for queries and issues. Creation of monthly accrual for primary contractor aligned with daily review of dayworks claims and mining activities;
  • Assist in the preparation and ongoing management of department budgets and forecasts ensuring that all operational and capital needs are adequately catered for to effectively deliver on the departments' business plan and provide the necessary training and exposure to direct reports so that they can assist in cost control;
  • Ensure all infrastructure, plant and equipment are purchased, maintained, operated and decommissioned in accordance with all relevant Gold Fields Critical Hazards Standards (CHS) and legislative requirements;
  • Engage team for technical and operational knowledge (Contractor and owners' teams) to overcome operational challenges, solve problems and optimize process to ensure delivery in line with the plan;
  • Project management and ensuring delivery of ancillary tasks to support operational delivery;
  • Consistently demonstrate and reflect behaviours, actions and attitudes in line with the Gold Field's Vision, Values and Code of Ethics. Actively promote Gold Field's policies, procedures and systems relating to your area of responsibility .


Key factors to your success include:

  • WA Quarry Manager's Certificate and familiarity with Australian mining regulations;
  • Bachelor of Engineering Mining
  • Significant Open Cut Mining Experience, 10+ years working in mining industry with 5+ years in a leadership position
  • Exposure to contract mining environments and a variety of commodities, styles of mineralization and scales and application of mining
