Hatch is currently seeking Junior Engineers to be part of an integrated engineering team providing engineering services for large and small capital projects in Amherst, NY. Working closely with our senior engineers and designers, the Junior Engineer will act as a technical resource on challenging projects. This position will allow the candidate to directly apply and develop his or her knowledge in engineering design using modern design tools. As time progresses, project duties and responsibilities will increase, facilitating registration of the candidate as a professional engineer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Applies engineering fundamentals to plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work including technical support for research studies, designs of heavy industrial, civil infrastructure projects, and construction management.
  • Performs work that involves conventional engineering practices but may include a variety of complex features.
  • Makes calculations, using engineering formulas and skills.
  • Performs field data collection and research; writes reports and construction overviews.
  • Assists with reviews and engineering analysis of concepts, plans, shop drawings, specifications, and operations manuals to ensure that the design is cost effective to build, operate, and maintain.
  • Provides assistance with coordinating and implementing ongoing designs and assists with writing and changing standard specifications related to projects.
  • Assists with schedules for the submission and review of design drawings and assists in project scheduling.
  • Reviews the quality of vendor manuals.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Material Science.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and/or Microstation.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Minimum of a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
