The Role: Drill & Blast Superintendent, Open Cut Operations (Tarrawonga, NSW)
An outstanding opportunity has become available for a Drill & Blast Superintendent to join the team at Tarrawonga. Direct supervision of the day to day Drill & Blast operations with the responsibility for maintaining a safe operation through effective leadership of the Drill & Blast team and ensuring compliance with all statutory laws, company policies and procedures whilst meeting the required production quantities and quality as defined in the budgets and forecasts in mine planning.

To be successful in the role you will:
  • Ensure dust, vibration and noise limits are observed and adhered to.
  • Participate where required in development and review of SOPs, SWPs, JSAs and Risk Assessments.
  • Ensure blasting activities are carried out within the guidelines set out in the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Act 2013.
  • Implement procedures to maintain all statutory requirement compliance relevant to Drill and Blast are maintained
  • Monitor and review and provide reporting on statutory compliance
  • Closely monitor the day to day operation and deal with D&B issues as necessary
  • Implementing cost reduction strategies to ensure improvement of blasting results and costs,
  • Design drill and blast activities to provide fragmentation that enables mining activity to meet budget productivity and also meets budget criteria

The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications, experience and qualities:
  • Tertiary qualification in mining engineering or related discipline.
  • OCE ticket or Shot Firer’s certificate (desirable).
  • Knowledge of the risk management, safe work practices and statutory requirements required to create and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Minimum five years of mining experience to include supervision of Drill and Blast, planning and scheduling, contract supervision and administration.
  • Demonstrated safe and productive management of mine plant and facilities.
