Train Controller

Fortescue Metals Group are currently seeking an experienced Train Controller to be based in our Perth Operations Centre. Reporting to the Supervisor Port and Train Control, you will be responsible for meeting customer needs by safely, reliably and efficiently controlling the Fortescue Rail Network.

Train Controller

Fortescue Metals Group are currently seeking an experienced Train Controller to be based in our Perth Operations Centre. Reporting to the Supervisor Port and Train Control, you will be responsible for meeting customer needs by safely, reliably and efficiently controlling the Fortescue Rail Network.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Controlling and monitoring mainline movements and shunt yard movements of trains and on-track vehicles, including rail maintenance work
- Safely operating the Rail Edge control panels and using your initiative and skills to ensure that daily railing plans and train schedules are efficiently met. You will maintain focus on safe, optimal operations, minimising train losses
- Ensuring that all activities are carried out and comply with all safety requirements specified in procedures, work instructions, TPI Operating Rules and relevant legislation
- Effectively managing incidents and accidents involving multiple stakeholders when required
- Collaborating closely with other operating units (Integrated Planning, our Mines, Port and Rail Operations, Track Maintenance and Rolling Stock Maintenance) personnel to optimise our railing capability and supply chain outcomes
Qualifications and skills required:
- A demonstrated commitment and positive approach to Safety and Safe working
- Sound industry knowledge with current or recent experience as a Train Controller
- Cert IV in Network Control is strongly desirable
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and planning skills
- Competency in the operation of train order systems
- Proven ability to apply your knowledge and skills whilst working in a demanding and dynamic work environment, dealing with conflicting priorities to achieve results
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions
- High level of computer literacy
- The ability to pass a safe working medical
