Position Description:

Nevada Gold Mines is looking for an Open Pit Dispatcher to join the Open Pit Mining Team at our Turquoise Ridge operations. The Open Pit Dispatcher will use the Fleet Management (Minestar) system while working closely with Mine Operations, Mine Maintenance, and Mine Engineering to ensure daily production targets are met and assets are effectively utilized.

Responsibilities:

• Effectively use Minestar/Terrain Fleet Management System to monitor and control mining equipment in a manner that ensures safety and optimum equipment use.
• Monitor and control the use of mining operations two-way radio communication to ensure that they are used as per Radio use Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and to report any violation or abuses.
• Ensure all mining production equipment is fully utilized to achieve optimum production targets.
• Ensure accuracy of data being collected by the Minestar FMS for reporting purposes including cycle times, operating hours, delays, standby, assignments, fuel usage, payload etc.
• Communicate with the maintenance team on equipment breakdowns and organize for mechanics/technicians to attend to these.
• Ensure timely release of equipment to the maintenance crew for all required services.
• Monitor all equipment breakdowns and ensure the correct equipment conditions are reported to the maintenance leadership team.
• Work closely with Mine Operations and Mine Engineering departments to ensure daily production targets are met.
• Monitor all tasks being undertaken by equipment operators and ensure that work is done in a safe and environmentally acceptable manner.
• Assist the Crew Supervisors in monitoring operator performance in accordance with code of conduct and other applicable standards.
• Identify and monitor key mining operation performance indicators (KPIs) and direct mining operations towards achieving the targets.
• Play an active role in the running of the shift by using all Mining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assist field equipment operators to achieve their targets.
• Use the Dispatch system to manage the personnel and equipment of the open pit, in a safe and productive manner
• Perform any other duties that will be assigned by the Dispatch Supervisor
• Coordinate site emergency response when an incident occurs
• Understand the time usage model and communicate key performance indicators to drive performance within the team

Qualifications:

• Minimum of (2) years open pit experience preferred
• Excellent communication skills - both oral and written required
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to show empathy and build rapport required
• Ability to multi-task and work in a high paced environment required
• Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, team-oriented and work with minimum supervision preferred
• Prior experience with Minestar FMS dispatcher duties preferred
• Understanding of Open Pit safety and production targets required
• Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes rotating shifts and mandatory overtime required
• Excellent safety, performance and attendance records required
• Excellent planning, problem solving, decision making, and organizational skills required
• Proven attention to detail with a high level of accuracy required
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently required
