Gold Fields Australia is currently seeking a Senior Engineer: Mine Planning to join their Technical Services Department in the West Perth Office supporting the Gold Fields Australia sites.
Reporting to the Superintendent: Mine Planning the role is to be part of a team that provides services to the region's mining operations, in compliance with region's Environmental and Safety Standards. The successful applicant will be engaged in the technical aspects of design and scheduling for the medium to long term mine planning of multiple underground operations for St Ives.
This role is available on a combined Fly in Fly out to Site/Perth Office arrangement and is offered on a roster comprising of two weeks in Perth (5 days on 2 days off; 4 days on 3 days off), followed by 5 days on site (St Ives) and 2 days off.

Key responsibilities include:
- Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of GFA and ensures that the Vital Behaviours are adhered to at all times.
- Undertake underground design and evaluation work, calculating ore reserves in accordance within established planning policies such as cut-off grades and legislative requirements;
- Undertake medium- and long-term design and scheduling including capital planning for ventilation, dewatering and backfill;
- Develop and prepare reports for underground projects at various stages of development (Concept through to Feasibility);
- Demonstrate good commercial acumen and undertake economic analysis for underground and technical projects;
- Develop strong networks with operational personnel and supporting departments to ensure effective communication, information transfer and efficient preparation and execution of plans;
- Develop, implement and maintain adherence to appropriate procedures and processes to ensure consistently accurate, appropriately detailed, timely and efficient delivery of mining plans;
- Engage and manage external consultants for specialist technical projects;
- Provide technical support and mentoring to mining engineers and assist in developing capability.
The successful candidate's CV would be expected to include:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering
- 7 years in underground engineering experience (planning and operational); Knowledge of open pit work would also be of benefit
- Understanding of mining and environmental approvals
- Proficient in mining software such as Deswik, Xeras, Datamine and Microsoft Office
- Valid WA "C" Driver's Licence
- Senior First Aid certificate is desirable
